Evening Wedding Invitation Wording and RSVP in the UK

Write a clear evening wedding invitation with reception wording, arrival time and RSVP examples. Keep evening and full-day guest details distinct.

An evening wedding invitation should name the evening reception, give the correct arrival time and explain how to reply. Avoid using the ceremony start time on an invitation intended only for the evening.

Turn your evening invitation card into a CardToPage guest page.

A simple evening invitation

Please join us for an evening reception to celebrate the marriage of [Names] on [Date] at [Venue]. Arrive from [Time]. Please RSVP by [Date] at [Link].

For a more informal celebration:

We’re married! Come and celebrate with us at [Venue] on [Date], from [Time]. We’d love to see you. Please let us know by [Date] if you can join us: [Link].

These are examples to adapt, not a rule that every UK wedding follows the same format.

Do evening guests need to RSVP?

Ask for a reply when it affects venue capacity, food, seating or transport. Even if the evening has no seated meal, a rough attendance count can be useful.

Ask a question tied to the invitation:

Will you be joining our evening reception on [Date]?

Avoid asking evening guests to select a ceremony attendance option when they are not invited to the ceremony.

Keep full-day and evening details distinct

The full-day invitation may need a ceremony arrival time, wedding breakfast information and the later reception. The evening version needs its own starting point.

Before sharing any website, check what that recipient can see. A public schedule listing every event may leave guests unsure which parts include them.

Do not assume CardToPage automatically hides events by guest group. If you need different information, use separate clearly labelled invitations and pages, or confirm suitable segmentation controls with your chosen platform.

Details that prevent follow-up questions

Include the venue’s full address and postcode. Confirm the entrance and directions. If relevant, explain parking, the finish time and whether food will be served.

Write only what you have confirmed:

Evening food will be served at [Time].

or:

Please eat beforehand; drinks and cake will be available.

Guests travelling from elsewhere may not know the local meaning of an evening invitation. Naming the reception and the arrival time is more helpful than relying on convention.

Put the RSVP date around your venue deadline

Check when your venue needs numbers and allow time for follow-up. There is no single deadline that fits every wedding.

For a reminder:

We’re finalising plans for our evening reception. Please let us know by [Date] whether you can join us: [Link].

Keep the stationery you already approved

CardToPage uses an existing invitation image as the main artwork. Add your reception details and directions, and choose the full website if you need RSVP. Preview the evening page as a guest before publishing.

For design-file questions, read Canva invitation links and QR codes.

Can I share the same page with everyone? Only if its contents are appropriate for everyone receiving it. A shared link should not imply an invitation to events that some guests are not attending.
