Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving Invitation Wording With RSVP
Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving invitation messages, RSVP questions and potluck wording to help you plan dinner without confusing guests.
A Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving invitation should state the dinner date, arrival time, meal time, address and RSVP deadline. For a potluck, explain what the host provides and how guests should agree on dishes. Ask for a headcount before finalising seating and food.
Have your invitation artwork ready? Create a CardToPage invitation page around your own card, with directions and event details. Choose the full website to collect RSVP responses and custom answers.
What should a Thanksgiving dinner invitation say?
“Please join us for Thanksgiving dinner on [date] at [address]. Arrive from [time]; we’ll sit down to eat at [time]. We’re providing [meal details]. Please RSVP by [deadline] at [link], including how many invited guests will attend. We’d love to share the table with you!”
Write the full date rather than simply “Thanksgiving.” Hosts in different countries celebrate on different dates, and your gathering may be on a nearby weekend. Make the invitation match your actual plans.
Friendsgiving invitation wording
“Good friends, good food and plenty to be thankful for! Join our Friendsgiving on [date] at [venue]. Arrive at [time], with dinner at [time]. Please RSVP by [deadline]: [link]. We’ll coordinate dishes after replies so everyone brings something different.”
Keep “bring a friend” out of the message unless extra guests really are welcome. If space is limited, say: “Please check with us before inviting anyone else so we can arrange seating.”
How do I ask guests to bring a dish?
“We’re providing [main course and other items]. If you’d like to bring a side or dessert, please tell us your proposed dish in your RSVP. We’ll confirm the plan to avoid duplicates.”
A custom RSVP question can collect a proposed dish. CardToPage does not promise an automatic potluck reservation system or prevent two guests choosing the same item. Review answers and confirm assignments yourself. Ask guests to mention ingredients when that information is needed for meal planning.
What questions belong on the RSVP form?
Start with attendance and the names or number of invited guests coming. Add dietary requirements, a proposed potluck dish and any information needed for seating. Keep the form short enough that a guest can finish it on a phone.
Do not treat silence as a yes. Follow up privately before your planning deadline: “We’re confirming dinner numbers. Could you let us know by [date] whether you can join us?”
How do I send the invitation by WhatsApp or text?
Send the card with a short personal message and the clickable page URL. An address or link placed inside an image cannot act like a tap-to-open button. Test the page’s directions and submit an RSVP yourself before sharing.
Example: “We’re hosting Friendsgiving and would love you to join us. Dinner details and RSVP are here: [link]. Please reply by [date].”
Can I update the dinner time after sending invitations?
You can edit the event details while keeping the CardToPage link. Message guests about the change and ask them to reopen it. Updating the page does not automatically alert everyone, and it does not rewrite the text in your uploaded card artwork. Replace the image if it contains an outdated time.
