How to Add Directions to an Invitation Without Redesigning the Card

Your invitation design is finished, but guests still need the venue pin. Add usable directions without squeezing a map or long address onto the card.

A beautiful invitation can still create an annoying guest experience if people have to message you for the location.

The common fix is to edit the card again and squeeze in a longer address, QR code or map screenshot. That often makes the design worse and still does not give guests convenient turn-by-turn directions.

There is a cleaner option: leave the card alone and put the directions on the invitation’s web page.

Create your invitation page with CardToPage. Keep your finished card and add the guest details around it.

Why the address printed on a card is not always enough

A venue name and street address help guests understand where the event is. They are not the same as a tappable destination.

Guests may still copy the address into a maps app, search for a similarly named venue or message the host asking for the pin.

For a host, that becomes repetitive. For a guest travelling in an unfamiliar area, it adds friction at exactly the wrong time.

Keep the card visual, make the page functional

Your invitation card has one job: communicate the event beautifully.

The surrounding website can handle the practical actions.

With CardToPage, the existing card remains the visual centre of the invitation. You add the event venue to the page so a guest can use the Directions action when they need it.

This is especially useful when:

  • the card was already printed or finalized
  • a designer made the artwork and you do not want to alter it
  • the venue address is too long for the design
  • guests are coming from different areas
  • you expect to share the invitation primarily through WhatsApp

Check the pin, not just the venue name

A directions button is only useful if it takes guests to the correct place.

Before publishing, verify the venue and location information yourself. If the venue is inside a large complex, hotel, resort or campus, make the guest-facing details specific enough to prevent confusion.

For events with multiple venues, do not assume one location can represent the whole celebration. Each event needs clear information so guests know where they are expected to go.

What the guest experience should feel like

The ideal flow is simple:

The guest receives your invitation link on WhatsApp, opens it, sees the card they recognize, checks the event details and taps Directions when it is time to travel.

They should not have to download another app just to view the invitation.

Directions are more useful than adding more decoration

Hosts often spend time deciding whether an invitation website needs extra animation, music or visual effects.

Those can make the experience more personal, but directions solve an immediate guest problem.

If you are building a minimal invitation website, accurate event information and a working venue destination should come before decorative extras.
