Indian Wedding RSVP Wording for Families and Functions
Get clearer Indian wedding replies with wording for family headcounts, mehndi, sangeet and reception attendance, plus a practical RSVP checklist.
For an Indian wedding, “We’re coming” may leave you unsure how many family members will attend and which functions they mean. Ask for the people and events you need to plan, without turning the invitation into a long questionnaire.
Create a CardToPage invitation page for your wedding card. Add RSVP on the full website while keeping the family-approved design.
Start with who the invitation includes
Name the invited household members when the guest list is limited. If your invitation genuinely welcomes the whole family, ask for the names or number attending.
For a household invitation:
We would love to celebrate with your family. Please confirm the names of the family members joining us by [Date]: [Invitation link].
For a named invitation:
We look forward to celebrating with the guests named on this invitation. Please confirm who will be attending by [Date].
Do not use an open-ended family invitation if you have only reserved two places.
Separate functions when the counts matter
One combined wedding response may be enough if everyone is attending the same celebration. For different groups or venues, clarify the functions you are asking about.
An example:
Please let us know which celebrations you will be attending: Mehndi on [Date], Sangeet on [Date], Wedding on [Date], and Reception on [Date].
Then ask for numbers by function if catering depends on different counts. A family might send four people to the reception but two to an earlier function.
Before setting up the form, confirm that your chosen tool can collect the answers you need. With CardToPage, review the available RSVP questions rather than assuming automatic per-function totals or invitation restrictions.
Ask only questions that affect arrangements
| What you are arranging | Useful question |
|---|---|
| Meals | Who is attending each relevant function? |
| Dietary accommodation | Any dietary requirements we should pass to the caterer? |
| Transport you are organising | Will you need the arranged transport? |
| Rooms you are organising | Should we contact you about accommodation? |
A dietary response is a planning note. Follow up on any important requirement with the guest and caterer.
Do not collect passport details or other travel documents through a general invitation form.
Keep replies from relatives abroad clear
Write dates with the month in words, and label times as local to the venue. Include the city and country as well as the venue name. For families travelling from the UK, US, Europe or elsewhere, send planning information early enough to be useful.
If guests prefer another language, share a short translated message alongside the invitation. A card image can retain its script, but that does not imply automatic translation of the surrounding website.
Handle phone and WhatsApp responses too
Some relatives will call instead of completing the page. Keep one reconciled guest list and record those replies there. Follow up on ambiguous answers directly.
Use a short message:
Hi [Name], we’re confirming arrangements for [Function]. Could you let us know who from your invitation will attend by [Date]? Details are here: [Link].
Check the page before sharing
Compare dates and venues with the artwork, test the location, submit a sample RSVP and check the dashboard. CardToPage supports exporting responses, but you should still review incomplete or conflicting answers.
Guest pages are accessible to anyone with the link. Share the invitation with the intended families and avoid putting sensitive guest information on it.
For sharing advice, see sending one invitation link on WhatsApp.
Will RSVP eliminate follow-up calls? No. It organises replies; it cannot make everyone respond or resolve unclear answers without your involvement.
